Don’t Let Them Bring You Down!

Don’t let anyone tell you what you can or can’t do.

Don’t let anyone make you doubt your abilities.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t lose weight or that you can’t get a certain job.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t be better.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t have the will. What do they even know about you? What do they know about what you go through?

I could have written this the other way around. I could have went on and on about how we need to consider our words before we speak them, for words have tremendous power and can lift anyone up or bring them down. But the thing is, some individuals are very aware of the demeaning thoughts they are vocalizing and projecting onto other people, but they don’t think twice before saying them, simply because to them, this is honesty and that it’s always right to speak your mind. You’d be surprised by how many individuals actually think this way, and how they give themselves a free pass to verbally and emotionally abuse someone under the name of ‘honesty’.

If you’re unfortunate enough to be surrounded by such individuals, or happen to cross paths with them every once in a while, let them say what ever floats their boat. No one can define or measure your abilities, your will, your endurance and stamina, and your capabilities. The closest these people ever got to really knowing you is through one of their gossip sessions, or assumptions they made by themselves. They haven’t got a clue of how much you’ve endured and overcome to be the person that you are today. Always praise and give yourself credit for making room for improvements, for willing to move forward past all the circumstances surrounding you that are bringing you down. You’re entitled to have healthy, positive and constructive individuals as companions, people who are as driven and motivated as you are.

And if you’re going to listen, then listen to your gut, listen to your instincts, and listen to those who believe in you and make way and open doors for you! Set goals, smash them and always keep in mind that there’s still so much about you that you haven’t found out yet, so how would they know?
