Simplicity Is The Most Important Lesson I’ve learned From The Sea!

Today’s life is so complex, full of notifications, work, calls and other personal responsibilities to attend to. It seems like in this fast-paced world we live in, immersed in our busy schedules, we have started to forget ourselves, being drained in our work duties, friendships, families and other daily tasks. No matter what you do and how hard you try every day, you’re still not quite satisfied. Subconsciously, you’re always searching for peace of mind, but seldom are the cases when you know what’s causing you to be so restless. You and I are very well aware of our duties and the responsibilities that lie today, tomorrow, and a month from now. We’re all busy planning; we have goals to achieve and daily tasks to be done, even if you do not have a career. It’s the city life people! But recently I was taken aback by how leading a simple life is the solution for everything!

A few days ago, I traveled to Sharm El Sheikh, because I needed a break from my everyday busy routine to relax and forget about everything. I packed my bags, got excited, went on an amazing road trip and finally arrived to my destination. During my stay there, I spent most of my time by the sea, experiencing some thrilling activities, having some fun in the water with the colorful fish, grabbing my book and having a good read, and finally going on a sea trip, which I still think about to this very day. A sea trip that opened my eyes to a new way of life.

I woke up early in the morning, at 6 AM to be precise, and went aboard a huge yacht with its sailor and a few other people whom I did not know. In the beginning, it was just an ordinary yacht cruise, but a few hours in, and I was sunk in the mood and made friends with some of the people who work on the yacht. We talked, did some snorkeling and diving to explore more of the beauty and magic of the sea. During that time, every second I spent there was so effortlessly simple, and yet I was the happiest I’ve ever been. The people on the yacht taught me that it’s okay to have a life full of busy schedules, it’s okay to work and attend to your responsibilities, it’s okay to run after and achieve success, it is all okay, as long as it is done in simplicity.

A lot of people lead simple lives, where they spend their days beside the sea, enjoying nature in all its perks. And it’s not surprising any more, more and more people choose to live lives where they feel more connected to mother Earth, lives that do not allow modern applications to diffuse onto their lives, working on yachts or fishing boats, and enjoy everything in its simplest of forms.

No matter what you have going on in your life, being simpler and more mindful to your basic needs, rather than focusing on everything else that you can’t have, won’t ever stop you from achieving your goals. It will actually teach you to enjoy and appreciate everything that life has to offer, with contentment and satisfaction, with no complications. You don’t have to go as far as dropping everything you’re doing right now and go live by the shore, but there are surely a few lessons to learn and apply, that will transform your approach to life, and possibly even your personality, to the better.

This article is by no means indicating certain practices that will guarantee you lead the simple life, but rather exposing you to such conducts that will impact how you view everything around you. Life is all about choices, choose the simpler ones.
