Well, that’s a bit of a dramatic title, am I right? Truthfully, the explanation behind this very Oscar-ish title derives from people’s perception that they can stop you. Well, yes. In a way, they can. They can motivate you or stop you from doing something, but only while they are physically with you. But when you get back home, when you go to work, when you’re alone in your room, you can do whatever you want. And the point that’s trying to cross over the other side of the river here is, no one can stop you from doing anything in life, you are the only one who can really stop yourself. You’re in control.
Amongst all the gifts in life, there’s nothing more powerful than having a strong will power. You feel strong, in control, the badass, the party starter. No one can stop you, not even life. The truth of the matter is, you shouldn’t be thinking this way, you shouldn’t be thinking of someone else stopping you or advising you against something, because you are completely capable of stopping yourself, darling.
By choosing whether to do something or not stems from a lot of roots. Like how you think or act towards situations, how you were brought up, the environment around you, or plainly, just you as a person. You may find yourself acting or doing things in a certain pattern now because that’s what you’re accustomed to. While at other times, you might find yourself struggling to prevent yourself from doing the one thing you want most.
Take for example, when you’re on a diet, you have to ‘change’ the lifestyle you’ve grown so much to love all for the sake of health or getting in that cute dress you bought last Summer. You have to eat more fruits and vegetables, go to the gym or fitness centers frequently, and try as much as possible to steer clear of the chocolate aisle in the supermarket. That’s when your willpower comes alive. You find your hands shaking near the refrigerator handle and your mind thinking of nothing but what you’ll be devouring on your cheat day.
Well, that ‘diet’, is just a mere example of what everyone else is going through. With everything, literally, everything! It sometimes doesn’t feel like that big of a deal, while at other times, you’ll find your hands gripping on your mind’s steering wheels for dear life, hoping you don’t mess up, or slip, and that your persistence doesn’t falter.
But who has the wheels? You. Everyone else is just in the passenger’s seat, and the best they could do is mess up with your playlist. Don’t take people seriously and lead the way to your life’s ever-long road trip!
